The SideSwipe beater was mentioned in our local newspaper's food section. I went to the company website and asked about a model for the KitchenAid 5 qt lift mixer with narrow bowl. I received a reply (rather quickly) that this will be available in a few months and that I'll be put on an email notification list for when it's available.
The design looks like it might be a good one. Just might have to get it and report back. |

o.k……I know this thread is kinda old…..but I was bored today and decided to try out these two beaters I came across….they are called ‘beaterblade’….I have one for the small mixer (4.5 and 5qt tilthead)….and I have one for the big mixer (Pro6, Pro600. Pro5+)…I figured since it was rainy and I was bored, I’d whip up a cake and frosting using them…..I fully expected them not to work since the last one was such a dud!!....now….I’ll save Phoebe the trouble….she would say….” these are not KitchenAid or KitchenAid approved…..using this beater could possibly damage the mixer….and would void the warranty”….blah…blah….blah….and as usual she’s right…..anyway….I took a couple pics and a few video shots…..wow!!...this thing was amazing!!....the last silicone beater I tried scraped the bowl very well….but did not mix ingredients very well…..now I tried this one and it did both….very well!!....scraped and mixed beautifully!!....maybe KitchenAid ought to think about producing a beater like this….or at least partnering and approve this….I don’t have any literature on the beaters…..so I can’t comment on the care…i.e.….dishwasher safe etc….and there was a lot of sqeaking of the plastic going on when I first started…..I’m betting the literature says something about maybe putting a little cooking oil in the beater opening….maybe with your pinky finger or something…and....I haven't tried to see if food coloring would stain them...anyway….results were wonderful…..I never scraped either bowl once!!
here's a pic of the genuine KA beater...the 'Scrape-A-Bowl' beater....and the 'beaterblade'

here's a pic of the two sizes of beaterblades
