Well, It came today. Beautiful but I like my ice artisan better in my kitchen. it is earthier I think. It looks better with my blue, red, flame and kiwi le creuset for some reason (they sit above cubboards). I noticed it was slanted a bit. I checked my ice queen and noticed that there was a larger gap where they horizontal top part fits onto the vertical part. It worked great though and I have found my true love. The gorgeous glass bowl. I tried it with my ice artisan and it looked amazing. So Candy is going back to the shopping network Canada. But, when the bowl comes out I am getting it. It was such a great deal though. One hundred and fifty dollars cheaper than sonoma and you get a 29 dollar 2nd edition mixer bible. Oh well.

Hi Linda, at least you now know you don't need it! I have a red Le Creuset too (well I'm not sure if it's flame). Thanks for dis-enabling (disabling?) me a bit - I still like the idea of the Candy Apple though! And now you can give your Ice some love, without reservation

I lust the glass bowl too!

Yes, I waved goodbye to Candy at the Post Office. I was actually in Sonoma yesterday and saw the mixers and thought they were so gorgeous on display, BUT I tried it and felt Ice Queen was such a nice contrast with all the le creuset and buttercup yellow kaid hand mixer. That ice is stunning, reminds me of blue icing on a cake.

The glass bowl is a must have for all of us when it comes.

I would buy the new mixer, though, I'm worried about the glass bowl...

I've had a glass bowl for several years now! It originally was made for the 4-C but it fits and works just fine with my 4.5 Ultra. I bet it would fit a 5 q. Artisan too. If you're desperate for a glass mixer bowl and don't care if it's anniversary, give E Bay a look.

Our kitchen is dark with not a lot of color (grey walls, white cabinets, black counters) with black and stainless steel appliances. Have kept my Le Creuset flame (red) pot atop the stove to add a bit of color. DH presented me with the candy apple 90th Anniversary mixer last month for my birthday. It took some time to decide the best place for this beauty in the kitchen. Turned out that near the stove, the two shades of red did not work together, but the mixer is now at home -- in all its glory -- on a different counter about 8 feet away from the Le Creuset, and both look great and add a touch of color and no longer clash.

Really enjoying reading all the helpful comments in all the forums on this site!

Just realized (after checking on the Williams Sonoma site) that my Le Creuset is actually "red," not "flame." However, even the red did not match the KA candy apple red, but they look great together as long as there is space between them.

Vernon and Cookn --

Thank you both for your warm welcome!!! I have seen many of your posts (which have been extremely helpful!)!

Have really enjoyed trying different recipes with the mixer ... made the whole wheat bread (from the recipe that was in the KA manual that came with the mixer) and am now ready to sell my old bread machine on Ebay ... the mixer and oven made a MUCH better loaf with a great crust!

Thanks again for your helpful comments and support!

I should sell my old bread maker too, thanks for the tip, Laura! I haven't taken that thing out since I bought my Pro 600 and made my first loaf of bread in it. Far superior- I agree! Funny, but I also made that whole grain bread from the recipe booklet twice last week and it came out GREAT! And it's all whole wheat- no white flour added at all! I am a big 100% whole wheat nut! I found a recipe for Sicilian Caponata which is an Italian eggplant dish that you eat on bread. I wanted whole wheat bread so I made that recipe and shaped them into 2 Italian bread sized loaves. Came out great- so great I had to repeat the entire meal later in the week it was such a hit! Here's the recipe for the Caponata, I got it from the latest Taste of Home magazine, I believe----

1 large eggplant, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
2 medium onions, chopped
2 celery ribs, chopped
2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes, undrained
1/3 cup chopped ripe olives
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons capers, drained
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
French bread baguettes, sliced and toasted (I made the whole grain bread in the KA mixer recipe booklet, shaped the 2 loaves into Italian bread shapes and did not toast the slices, we just loaded the caponata on top of the fresh sliced bread straight from the oven) YUM!

In a Dutch oven, saute eggplant in 1/4 cup oil until tender. Remove eggplant from the pan and set aside. In the same pan, saute onions and celery in remaining oil until tender. Stir in tomatoes and eggplant. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes.
Add the olives, vinegar, sugar, capers, salt and pepper. Return to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes or until thickened. Serve warm or at room temperature with bread. Recipe also states you can spoon mixture over pasta for a different spin!!! ENJOY!
